Luke has been barra guiding since the early 1990’s and is very adept at both saltwater barra fishing as well as impoundment fishing.
Growing up in Townsville, Peter Faust Dam was one of the first impoundments he ever fished and he has spent a lot of time on its waters in the 30 years since it was built!

DAM FACTS: Peter Faust Dam is known for its been fishing and many of our clients have been able to achieve new PBs here! We’ve also had some epic fish number days at Faust including several 30 fish days. While not every day is such big numbers there is certainly the chance for a big fish every day. Our guests biggest fish measured 117cm with quite a number in the high 100’s – 108, 109, 110 and 111cm! Check out the latest “brag mat” posts!

FISHING AT PETER FAUST
Peter Faust Dam is stocked annually with an estimated 20,000 barramundi fingerlings.
One of the best things about barra fishing at Peter Faust Dam is the consistency of big fish. On average, Luke guestimates that almost one in every 5 barra caught is over a metre. Our guests have notched up some stonkers with the biggest two 117cm, and several over 110cm.
And its also an awesome dam for variety of techniques.
We can catch them jerk baiting in heavy timber and vibing, fishing weed edges as well as shallow points as well as on the surface (sight casting).
